Las Lluvias de Ibiza

Agua del Cielo

Ibiza faces a structural water scarcity problem. The island's aquifers are under permanent pressure from a resident population of 150,000 that triples during summer. Desalination covers part of the gap. Groundwater depletion covers the rest — unsustainably.

Las Lluvias de Ibiza is a decentralised rainwater harvesting infrastructure concept designed to change that equation at property level. The concept proposes an overground collection and storage platform deployable at individual properties and rural estates, using existing roof and land surface area to capture and store rainfall for irrigation, pool management, and grey water use — reducing dependency on mains supply by an estimated 40–70% depending on property type and usage pattern.

The full business plan covers engineering specifications, regulatory pathway under ABAQUA and Balearic water law, cost modelling, implementation timeline, and a scalable franchise model applicable to other water-scarce Mediterranean regions. Partner enquiries welcome.
